Projects & Impacts
To create a youth-led circular ecosystem that transforms café waste into fertilizer, strengthens local soil health, reduces emissions, and reconnects Daegu’s youth with agriculture through hands-on climate adaptation.
“Today, youth and farms are very disconnected, so we wanted to cultivate our club members themselves to have hands-on experiences… those experiences were very direct and hands-on. That was my favorite part of the initiative.”

The Experiment
In collaboration with the Daegu Metropolitan Agricultural Technology Center, grounds from local cafés were dried and mixed into compost, then tested against plain soil in the DIS garden.

In Daegu, climate change no longer lives in distant forecasts — it's in every meal. Heatwaves and erratic rainfall disrupt harvests, alter taste, and ripple through the local economy.
A turbine collapse few noticed foreshadowed a fire that claimed three workers' lives. The accident laid bare how precarious Korea's green energy oversight really is.
At a zero-waste cafe in Daegu, nuns greet customers by name and sustainability happens by routine. No doom-and-gloom posters — just stewardship practiced daily.
Fear that life will never be the same is fueling psychological distress among the emerging generation. Cynical headlines and absent education leave teens to face climate anxiety alone.
